Reading Poems at Oak Bay’s ArtsAlive Sculpture and Poetry Event

Each summer, Oak Bay’s ArtsAlive public sculpture program treats presents a superb collection of outdoor sculptures. This year, poet Gisela Ruebsaat and I were invited to a poetry and sculpture walk, during which a group of art and poetry lovers toured some of these sculptures and listened to our poems about them. The sculpture in the photo, entitled Salmon Cycle, is by Trinita Waller from Sooke, BC.

After the tour, participants also wrote poems in response to a sculpture. Together, we discovered how much these two art forms enrich each other.
